New media and creativity go hand in hand. In social media, blogs, wikis, vlogs, you have to incite individuals to your material. People want their new media works to be popular and it has to be creative and unique to do so.
New media technology is also a way for people to collaborate and generate creative works. One example of this is with parodies. People use Youtube to broadcast parodies made about every day situations. Antwoine Dodson and Sweet Brown are examples of videos on youtube going viral. People also create parodies of characters, displaying them with different traits than they’ve been developed displaying, as with Disney characters acting as rappers and smoking (Disney Tolerates a Rap Parody of Its Critters. But Why? The New York Times, September 24, 2007).
